This tripled distilled peated single malt from the English Whisky Co. has been bottled after 10 years in a first fill ex-Jim Beam Barrel at 50.1%.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Vanilla custard and fudge, with a gentle drifting charcoal smoke and crisp green apples. Very elegant!
Palate: There’s a immediate sweet peat reek to a creamy butterscotch note with a hint of mint that lingers right through to the long finish. This is wonderful!
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

Laid down in 2018 and fully matured in an ex-Islay barrel which has given it a furtive smooch of peat, this is a beautiful, rich and gently smoky young example of this charming English make. "This is our 3rd batch, and the first commercially available 12 Year Old bottled from this distillery (there was a recent bespoke club bottling of 12 year old whiskies) Their 11 Year Old distillery release has recently been awarded English Whisky of the Year at The Wizards of Whisky Awards
The distillery was the first to produce whisky in England for over 100 years! The English Whisky Company led the new wave of English whisky makers when they released the first English single malt for more than a hundred years in 2009. Some of the best barley is grown in Norfolk, and the Breckland water is superb.
Their distillery is named ‘St. George’s’, but thea are known as The English Whisky Company - there was only one when they opened in 2006, and remained the only whisky distillery in England for some time. St George’s also the first whisky distillery Boutiquey-Dave ever visited, so he have a huge soft spot for this distillery"
