"To commemorate a great year of Boutique-y “series” releases, TBWC present 3 bangin’ blended scotches and one “spirit drink” of great age, all presented with a wink to nostalgia through the lens of our artist Emily Chappell. A favourite from TBWC Advent calendars in years gone by, our third batch of Blended Scotch Whisky #2 is a glorious 22 Year Old release of just 1,650 bottles. We held back 412 just for inclusion in our Boutique-y Blends Quartet (NB 66 export, 346 DP) for the Norwest Euro Express Series."

"Although our friends at WhiskyFun suggest the label depicts “a white glove stroking a hairy space testicle”, it’s simply meant to evoke the smooooothness of this well-aged blended Scotch whisky."

Nose: sweet, decadent, and toasty; floral with almonds, candied citrus, and Rosette cookies; creamed honey and cold tea dregs with Demerara sugar.
Palate: sweet, creamy and floral with toasted oak and more Rosette cookies; very decadent, more creamed honey, agave nectar, and corn syrup; almond paste, mochi matcha, and milk chocolate; silky and waxy with vanilla bean; more citrus fruits and dried apple chunks.
Finish: long, decadent, and fruity; floral, silky, and toasty; juicy citrus fruits and silky grains.
Comment: this is a lovely blend, sweet, fruity and layered; a lovely balance of malt and grain.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Sweet with Demerara sugar and heather honey, chocolate raisins follow.
Palate: Very gentle. Velvety smooth, with rich chocolate and black cherry, with just a hint of wild fennel. There's a whisper of wood smoke in the finish too.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

This Blended Scotch whisky is composed of single malts from the Speyside, Islay, and Northern Highlands, blended with grain whisky. The spirits initially matured in American oak and Sherry Buts, before being Billy Walkered (re-racked) into PX and Oloroso Puncheons as well as some Virgin American oak, for a finishing period. The whiskies were then blended back together and bottled at 46%.

"Master blender Stephanie Macleod’s innovative blend was inspired by Dewar’s famous double aging process. She separately blended parcels of aged malt and grain whisky, left each to marry, then blended them together to marry again, before finishing in oloroso sherry casks. A tantalizing nose of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, crystalized orange slice, fresh plum, black cherry, and moist coffee grounds. Smooth flavors of chocolate-dipped raspberries, gingersnaps, and bold sherry fruit yield to a finish of smoke and spice. By releasing in novel half-bottles, Dewar’s spreads the love, enabling us to experience a 21 year old scotch for just 50 bucks. —Jonny McCormick"

The middle child in the Dewar's Double Aged collection, this 27-year-old is maybe the sleeper in the range: its older sibling gets a lot of attention for the higher age statement, and it's younger sibling garners love for price point. The 27-year-old is where you should really be looking for quality/price ratio. This whisky is a banger!
Dewar's has told us that this has "been aged, blended together, aged again, then finished in sherry casks." This time, however, those finishing vessels were ex-Palo Cortado!
