Bottled exclusively for Alberta, this 24 year old BenRiach was distilled in 1997 and matured in a Bourbon Barrel (#14493) before bottling in 2022 at a cask strength of 56.5%. Selected by Rachel Barrie, only 176 total bottles have been released!

Nose: decadent, creamy, and fruity with subtle spice; creamed honey, clotted cream, and creme brule; orange pith, dried apricot, and honey dew melon; nutty and toasty with almond brittle.
Palate: creamy, sweet, and fruity with juicy malt; a base of buttery toasted oak with decadent spices; more clotted cream, creme brule, and creamed honey; the fruits start in the citrus/orchard range, but evolve into more tropical ones like green mango and pineapple; Earl Grey Tea icecream and toasted marshmallows to round things out; sliced ginger and cinnamon hearts.
Finish: warming, spicy, and toasty, the finish is long, coating the palate with fading fruits and sweet creamy treats.
Comment: bottled just shy of a quarter century in fresh Bourbon, this whisky is bright and lively with a creamy backbone and loads of fruit tones; a beautiful cask!

Nose: Honeyed almond and molasses in tonka bean syrup, with raisin ice cream
and bitter orange.
Palate: Sun dried raisin, vanilla and coconut ice, with dark manuka honey, orange
and lemon.

One of Whiskyland’s most sparse and haunting landscapes is the Plainoak Desert. Many wanderers have lost their minds staring into the vast, fathomless bungholes that dot this stark tundra. If you venture into the Plainoak Desert, be sure to bring the following kit: 4 pipettes, a broad variety of tasting glasses lashed about your neck with lanyards, dram tokens from Whisky Festivals gone by that you can cast into the depths of the bung holes in a vague hope of shattering their psychic grasp upon your feeble mind, a teaspoon, unread of copies of Whisky Magazine from the early 2000s, a pair of rugged canvas sandals and two bottles of this Benriach 1991 for company – ideally three!"

There's simply not enough BenRiach on the market anymore. We miss the days when Billy Walker owned the distillery, and this fruit-driven malt was everywhere. Sadly, that's not the case any longer, but the arrival of this 16-year-old has us buzzing. Hopefully, it's a sign of things to come.

Historically 1993 is one of the best vintages from GlenDronach, a decade ago we bottled a KWM Cask of it... The distillery has selected an Oloroso Puncheon of 1993 Glendronach, cask 4193, to be bottled exclusively for Canada. The whisky was bottled after 28 years at 51.9%.
