This 2-year-old Balcones from our friends at That Boutique-y Whisky Company is Batch 4, bottled at 50% after maturing in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask. This uses the same smoked blue corn whiskey that goes into Balcones Brimstone.
Producer Description
"It’s our 4th batch from the Texas distillery Balcones, but our first corn whisky from them. It’s a big, bold, corn spirit made from Hopi blue corn. The whisky is smoked before being matured in a Pedro Ximenez cask."

Nose: Blackberries, blackcurrants, liquorice, treacle, and hints of dark chocolate and scorched wood.
Taste: Sweet and fruity, with prunes, dates, figs, and raisins. Hints of coffee and tobacco, and as the wood spices build, a woody smokiness comes through.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

The Musician is a Bourbon made by Still Austin Whiskey Co from a mash of 100% Texas-grown grain. The exact mash bill for The Musician Bourbon is 70% White Corn, 25% Rye, and 5% Malted Barley. The whiskey was matured as is typical, using heavily charred virgin oak casks.
This is the cask strength version of the regular Still Austin Texas Bourbon, aged for at least two years. It is bottled at 58% ABV.
Still Austin Distillery resides in Austin, Texas, and was founded in 2015. What sets Still Austin apart from other craft distilleries is its 42-foot tall column still dubbed Nancy, which was crafted by Forsyth's of Scotland.

The first few batches of Hirsch: The Horizon Bourbon are a blend of high-Rye five and six-year-old Bourbon originally distilled at the venerable MGP of Lawrenceberg, Indiana. The resulting batches are bottled at 46%.
