Nose: A burst of charcoal meets crashing waves and burnt citrus.
Palate: An ashy avalanche of peat smoke coupled with sea air, black pepper and damp earth.

The Big Peat makes one promise: 'peat." Vatted from single malts distilled at Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen. What more could you ask for? This whisky may be made with Bowmore and Caol Ila, but it is its Ardbeg which is most dominant. Given that Port Ellen has been closed for 35 years, and any whisky from that distillery is now very mature, even the addition of only a small amount is very special. Earthy, chocolaty, salty, smoky, peaty and lightly medicinal. This whisky truly is Islay in a bottle. 46%.
