Only 298 bottles of this 30 Year Old Cask Strength GlenAllachie made their way into this world, and we managed to get our hands on four of them! Distilled in 1989 and bottled at a cask strength of 45.7%, finished in a single Oloroso Sherry Hoggy. A quick note on colour... the bottle shot at left is a more accurate representation than the producer shot with box at botttom. This whisky is dark, dark, dark...
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Heather honey, mocha and sweet spices with pineapples and eucalyptus.
Palate: Layers of dark chocolate, mocha and Christmas cake, fused with orange zest, cinnamon and heather honey.
From The Producer
"When we took ownership of GlenAllachie Distillery, our Master Distiller Billy Walker embarked on an in-depth cask evaluation programme across our 50,000 casks on-site. The results of his expert endeavours can be seen in our multi-award winning core range and in our single cask releases, where Billy has had the opportunity to showcase exceptional casks and highlight our approach to wood management.
We’re excited to present our latest release of single casks, each skilfully demonstrating the unique interaction of the wood, spirit and subsequent flavour extension. Oloroso is a sherry wine made from Palomino grapes, originating from the Spanish provence of Jerez. The typical characteristics are a nuttier, slightly dryer sherry style with notes of spice, leather and old wood. The additional cask maturation using Oloroso Hogsheads deliver an exceptional creamy and spicy addition to the classic GlenAllachie style."
