At the more aged end of the current round of GlenAllachie single casks is this 1990 vintage which was finished in an ex-Madeira Barrel. 298 bottles were filled at 30 years of age and a cask strength of 56% ABV. 298 bottles total for the world, with only 4 coming to Kensington Wine Market!
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Layers of heather honey and rich spices fused with mocha and orange peel.
Palate: Rich notes of heather honey, grape must, orange zest and grapefruit, with sultanas and cinnamon.

"When we took ownership of GlenAllachie Distillery, our Master Distiller Billy Walker embarked on an in-depth cask evaluation programme across our 50,000 casks on-site. The results of his expert endeavours can be seen in our multi-award winning core range and in our single cask releases, where Billy has had the opportunity to showcase exceptional casks and highlight our approach to wood management.
We’re excited to present our latest release of single casks, each skilfully demonstrating the unique interaction of the wood, spirit and subsequent flavour extension. The long maturation of this cask has mellowed the classic GlenAllachie style although the underlying honey and mocha flavours still come through on the palate. The secondary maturation in the Madeira barrel adds layers of stewed fruits, figs and caramel, giving the perfect balance of sweet and spicy notes."

This is still one of the best value 40 year old whiskies on the market, bottled at 43%, after maturing primarily in Ex-Sherry casks. Canadian allocations of this whisky are getting tighter and tighter. We expect it will be a once annual release, and that the price will start going up precipitously in the years ahead... so don't tell us we didn't tell you so!

Glenfarclas 30 Year is one of the great, benchmark premium single malts. Matured in sherry casks and bottled 43% the whisky is layered, complex and smooth. Also comes in an impressive new box... if you're into that! No judgement on our end, we think it is very coo!

Bottled at 42% and first released in 2013, the distillery is said to be releasing just 3,000 bottles a year around the world. The whisky has been matured in American oak before finishing in a mix of 1st-Fill Ex-American oak and Palomino Fino Sherry Butts.

Nose: Exotic fruits, marzipan, vanilla pods, treacle toffee, fig cake and sweet balsamic.
Palate: Orange peel, chocolate truffles, liquorice, sweet damsons and sherry soaked raisins.
Finish: Demerara sugar, maple syrup, bitter chocolate and spiced gingerbread.

"Built in 1967 as a small compact distillery, GlenAllachie was the fourth distillery designed by William Delme-Evans. The complete whisky making process was gravity fed and combined with unusual horizontal condensers it was a triumph of engineering and design.
Fast forward 50 years and we’re reaping the benefit when we bring you the GlenAllachie 25 year old. A combination of Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso casks specially selected by our Master Distiller Billy Walker and bottled at a slightly higher ABV of 48%."
