This is where the cultural landscape of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley begins, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. The winery and most of their are situated in the middle of this region with views of castles and imposing steep slopes, such as the Assmannshäuser Höllenberg (we know, it's fun to say). The steep vineyards are characterized by quartzite and clay/slate, and the predominant grape variety around Assmannshausen is mainly Pinot Noir While Kesseler specializes in high-quality red wines (Pinot Noir), they also have first-class Riesling vineyards in the lower and middle Rheingau.
