Bottled without colouring or chill filtering, this new limited edition Arran was matured in Bourbon and Sherry before finishing in hand selected Côte-Rôtie wine casks from a respected producer in the Rhone Valley. 50%.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: earthy, leathery and peppery with dried cranberries and cherries; a touch malty with honey and rose petals.
Palate: soft, malty and floral; creamy vanilla, a touch of honey, soft new leather and loads of berry fruits: blackberries, fresh raspberries and more dried cranberry and cherry; subtly earthy with peppery spices.
Finish: fresh, fruity and malty; a touch of drying leather and tobacco, but retaining loads of fruit; medium length and good balance.
Comment: I was a tad worried by the nose, wine finishes and matured whiskies are not often in my wheel house, with the wine notes too over the top; the palate surprised me, and laid waste to my concerns; this is a well integrated an well balanced whisky; very seldom am I disappointed by an Arran; well done!
Producer's Tasting Note
Nose: Spicy dark fruits, cherry and parma violets.
Palate: Chocolate, fig and plums are underwritten by smoked oak, balanced well by the light citrus nature of the Arran Malt.
Finish: The Côte-Rôtie expression is smooth and rich, leaving memory of candied fruit and smoked pepper. A beautifully complex dram which highlights an ideal paring between the Côte-Rôtie cask and the Arran Malt.
Producer's Description
"After initially maturing in traditional oak casks the Arran Single Malt in this bottling was specifically selected by our master distiller to be ‘finished’ in Côte-Rôtie Wine Casks sourced from a quality producer of this red wine from the Rhone Valley. This whisky is bottled without artificial colouring or chill filtration to ensure a natural full-bodied and flavoursome single malt."

The 18 year old Arran was added to the distillery's core range in 2016 for its 21st anniversary. Bottled at 46%, un-Chillfiltered and with no colouring added, the Arran 18 year old is created predominantly from carefully selected first and second-fill Ex-Sherry casks. Rich, fruity with some soft spices in style, the 18 year year old Arran represents a great value for its age. The new packaging looks good, but I still love the old one! #torn The current release was bottled 05/09/25.

The Arran 10 Year has been a staple at KWM for more than a decade. We love the fact that it is un-chill filtered and bottled without colouring at 46%. It is a great whisky for those just cutting their teeth or those in search of a great quality whisky that doesn't break the bank. The latest batches show a bit more sherry influence creeping in.

Finished in Amarone casks sourced from the Veneto region of Italy, this Arran typically aged for a total of around 8 years old. Before finishing the Arran single malt these casks nurtured one of the richest, boldest & most sought after Italian wines. Its time in the barriques has given it a spicier, dark fruity character that marries well with Arran's malt. 50% ABV.
