The Arran 10 Year has been a staple at KWM for more than a decade. We love the fact that it is un-chill filtered and bottled without colouring at 46%. It is a great whisky for those just cutting their teeth or those in search of a great quality whisky that doesn't break the bank. The latest batches show a bit more sherry influence creeping in.
700ml mlProducer Tasting Note
Nose: Luscious citrus fruits
Palate: The initial rush of rich vanilla sweetness gives way to a touch of cinnamon which adds a spicy edge to the soft and sweet texture. The classic Arran citrus notes have rounded with age and reveal new depths of character against a background of sweet oak.
Finish: Sweetness, Apple, Citrus, Cinnamon.
Andrew's Tasting Note - 21/10/2019 Bottling
Nose: soft, creamy and floral with juicy malt and crisp citrus fruits; creamed honey with sweet vanilla and crisp oak spices.Â
Palate: sweet, honeyed and very creamy with more juicy malt and floral vanilla; gentle toasty oak and crisp spices: cinnamon hearts, candied ginger and cardamom; bright citrus fruits, sour melon and dried apricots.
Finish: crisp, coating and decadent with long lingering honey, vanilla and spices.
Comment: this is a round, fruity, spicy and decadent whisky, and great value at that; I love that it is bottled at 46%, you can really feel it on the palate; a great whisk for someone new to single malts, or as a first ... or last... dram of the night!
