A Kensington Wine Market exclusive. We have fallen in love with the wines from Trossos a small family winery in the Priorat region of Spain devoted to organic farming. Made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Carignan,15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah, this is a gorgeous and elegant Priorat. Deep crimson red in colour, the nose offers black fruit compote together with black spices and notes of licorice. Smooth and velvety in the mouth with tannin tension for structure. The classic Priorat minerality frames the lovely black and red fruits. It finishes with long and satisfying dark fruit notes, with the aromas of sweet spices reemerging on the finish. Best food bets are rich and hearty fare like braised wild game, earthy vegetarian stews, or strong cheese.

A Kensington Wine Market exclusive! The arid vineyards of Priorat, about a 90-minute drive from Barcelona, produce some of the most sought-after Spanish red wines. Meaty and full-bodied with dark red berries and earthy spice. This is one of our best-selling red wines, and sales go up drastically when the weather cools. It's a blend of 85% Garnacha (aka Grenache) and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines grow on steep, rocky terraces and face challenging, dry conditions and high temperatures. The harsh climate makes for unique, concentrated wines with real complexity, however. Trossos del Priorats farm their land utilizing organic viticultural practices and the wine is fermented in stainless steel tank for a duration of around 21 days. It is then aged in a combination of French and American oak for 12 months. Complex, bold and rich, Trossos Priorat is a perfect match for red meats and game. Think rustic dishes, such as braised short ribs or a chicken stew.

This aromatic red bursts out of the glass with a big bouquet of aromas that includes black licorice, tea, campfire smoke and black fruits. On the palate, it's all cassis, black fruits and spice, with firm but ripe and well-integrated tannins. It spends its time 90% French and 10% American oak barrels and will continue to improve for another 8 -10 years. The 2017 is a blend of Garnacha, Carinena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It would like to hang out with a slab of prime rib.

The Le Clos des Cazaux estate has been a family property focused on viticulture for five generations since Gabriel Archimbaud, an ancestor, was one of the first to produce wines from Vacqueyras in 1947. It is now owned and operated by brothers Jean-Michel and Frédéric Vache. They farm 35 hectares, 20 in Vacqueyras and another 15 in Gigondas. They own mostly low-yielding hillside vineyards, fashioning high-quality white wines, rosés, and red blends. Their Gigondas vineyards are situated in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail massif range that has been in the family since the 1950s. This very special terroir benefits from the solar power of the southern slope, balanced by the cool nights at higher altitudes, mostly on clay soils. The reds are blended primarily from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. however, they include lesser-known grapes such as Aubun, Counoise, Cinsault, Muscardin and Carignan. The white wines mainly employ old-vine Clairette, complemented by Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and a little Viognier.

Born in the heart of Alt Penedès to a family of farmers, brothers Toni and Miquel Coca i Fitó have forged parallel and complementary paths throughout their lives, which ultimately converged in 2006 with the realization of a shared dream: the Coca i Fitó winemaking project. Situated in Montsant, they have 30 hectares of vineyards sprawling across various municipalities, come together with the aim of crafting wines full of soul and identity.
Montsant, like the Priorat, is a remarkably beautiful region with steep mountains that rise more than 3,300 feet above sea level. The climate is harsh: hot summers and bitter winters. The vines are planted directly on the steep hillsides, on what are called "costers" or terraces A truly special and fascinating wine, full of nuances. Made quite traditionally from a severe selection of old-vine Grenache grapes. Clean and clear initial aromas of mature red fruits with local herbs, sweet spices, elegant yet fresh attack, enduring on the palate. Despite being from the 2014 vintage, the wine is still remarkably youthful, displaying the power that can be achieved from old-vine Grenache.
