Three months in French and American oak barrels and one year underground in concrete tanks gives the wine minerality and soft velvety tannins. Coca i Fitó of Monsant in Catalunya, Spain is a small family production operated by two brothers, Toni and Miquel Coca. The brothers grew up around vineyards and eventually started making their own wines in 2006 after years of working for other cellars. Their individual talents compliment each other: Toni makes vibrant and well-defined wines, while Miquel is a true artist for design and running a wine cellar, if you notice all of the labels from Coca i Fitó are wonderfully designed by Miquel.
Montsant, like the Priorat, is a remarkably beautiful region with steep mountains that rise more than 3,300 feet above sea level. The climate is harsh: hot summers and bitter winters. The vines are planted directly on the steep hillsides, on what are called "coster" or terraces.
Toni Coca is a master in getting the most out of his grapes: mature fruit expression and structure without sacrificing freshness. It's no surprise that he is sought after as a consultant throughout the country. In fact, he works for over 15 different projects. Toni was also voted as the best winemaker in Catalunya in 2018.
The story of Jaspi wine begins in the high-elevation region of Monstant, a beautiful area within Catalunya, Spain. Here, we see beautiful summer days and mild, warm evenings, making for a perfect place to grow Garnacha, Carinena, Sira, Garnacha Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Coca i Fitó has perfectly captured the essence of Monstant. The Jaspi wines are a classic rendition of the region style, showing balanced boldness with hints of minerality. "Samsara, a new project from Priorat produced by the team of enologists Eva Escudé, Coca i Fitó and Trossos del Priorat in Gratallops. Samsara is an approachable, modern wine that brings Priorat to the palates of the world. Samsara is made from Garnacha (50%) and Cariñena (35%), with small amounts of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of them from the Gratallops and Vilella Alta areas. The vines are 15 to 70 years old! The nose offers aromas of ripe red fruit, tangerine, light balsamic, and delicate spice. The palate is fresh and nervy with ripe supple tannins."

A Kensington Wine Market exclusive! The arid vineyards of Priorat, about a 90-minute drive from Barcelona, produce some of the most sought-after Spanish red wines. Meaty and full-bodied with dark red berries and earthy spice. This is one of our best-selling red wines, and sales go up drastically when the weather cools. It's a blend of 85% Garnacha (aka Grenache) and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines grow on steep, rocky terraces and face challenging, dry conditions and high temperatures. The harsh climate makes for unique, concentrated wines with real complexity, however. Trossos del Priorats farm their land utilizing organic viticultural practices and the wine is fermented in stainless steel tank for a duration of around 21 days. It is then aged in a combination of French and American oak for 12 months. Complex, bold and rich, Trossos Priorat is a perfect match for red meats and game. Think rustic dishes, such as braised short ribs or a chicken stew.

Owner & winemaker, Rosalia Molina, produces these organic wines in one of Spain's highest-altitude wineries. Her mission is to make wines that express the typicity of DO Manchuela, and this includes the vineyards, the altitude and the varieties planted. The climate pushes the limits for grape growing because, at 1,100 metres above sea level issues like frost become a concern. The grapes tend to experience a large diurnal range that encourages even ripening and helps to retain natural acidity. Rosalia's vineyards are certified organic, she uses only natural fertilizers, promoting biodiversity by welcoming chickens, sheep and pigs from local farms to roam the vineyards freely. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified as naturally as possible with native yeasts and little other intervention. The wines are then aged in clay amphora and some in French oak to give texture and complexity.
This organic red blend is made up predominantly of Syrah, with some Cabernet Franc and Garnacha, dense and layered. One to enjoy now or cellar for a while. It spends 24 months in French oak as well.Ripe notes of black berries, blueberries, a touch of minerality and an expressive note of black pepper. A great wine to pair with a juicy steak, tourtiere and/or roasted root vegetables. Vegan friendly!
