One of the most sought-after Irish whiskies around: the 21-year-old single malt from Bushmills Distillery. It is triple distilled then matured in a mix of bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry before finishing in Madeira barrels. Bottled at 40% ABV.
Producer Description
"Our Bushmills 21 Year Old is a marriage of single malts matured for at least 19 years in hand-selected Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, then finished in Madeira casks for a further two years. This unusually long finishing period allows our single malt to patiently mellow, mature and pick up deeper notes of ripe fruit and dried raisins from the fortified Portuguese wine casks. Our 21 Year Old is only crafted in limited numbers and each bottle is numbered."
750 mlEvan’s Tasting Note
Nose: Honey, cloves, blackberries and currants, candied orange peel, waxy wine gums, roasted hazelnuts and light oak spices.
Palate: Butterscotch, mandarin orange, dried cranberries and cherries, milk chocolate, walnuts and hazelnuts, and a touch of oak spice once more.
Finish: Soft, smooth, and drying with lingering wood spice and nutty notes.
Comment: Solid Irish Whiskey. I can see why many people swear by it. It is a smooth and easy-drinking dram.
