Tomintoul Peaty Tang is made from a combination of unpeated Tomintoul malt and heavily peated Ballantruan malt also produced at Tomintoul. The result is a Speyside single malt with soft, approachable peat and smoke.

Nose: Pine needles, grapefruit husks and lime peels burning away in a backyard firepit while you eat a freshly made s'more that has gingerbread cookie instead of graham crackers to sandwich the marshmallow and chocolate together. A bit of London Fog to drink should wash it all down.
Palate: Key lime pie with a slightly burnt crust, milk stirred into oatmeal, unsweetened iced tea, and ginger ale with a tonic water chaser.
Finish: An interesting combination of sweet, smoky and dry all at the same time.
Comment: A single malt masquerading as a botanical gin? Hey Bartender! I'll take a Peaty Tang and Tonic, please! A bit drying on the finish but still a good introduction to peated whisky from this Speyside Distillery.

Machrie Moor is the name Arran gives to peated single malt whiskies from their distillery. The Machrie Moor Cask Strength is bottled at 58.2%. It used to have batch numbers, but given that it is now a part of the permanent Arran range they have phased those out. The barley is peated for 20ppm, which is a little lower than Bowmore on Islay.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Citrus notes with a background of peat and a puff of smoke immediately apparent.
Palate: A robust dram with the typical orchard fruits of Arran coming to the fore over a layer of toasted brioche and red berries.
Finish: Long lasting, creamy vanilla and coconut notes from the Bourbon cask.

More About Arran Machrie Moor
On the west coast of the Isle of Arran lies a windswept and mystical peat bog called Machrie Moor. Bronze Age stone circles and standing stones are strewn across its barren, undulating terrain. One of the stone circles is known as Fingal’s Cauldron Seat, where sits a stone with a carved hole. The legendary warrior giant Fingal is said to have tethered his favourite dog Bran to this stone. Machrie Moor is a peated single malt from the Isle of Arran Distillery. Averaging around 20PPM, it is a moderately peated single malt distilled at the Isle of Arran's Lochranza distillery, aged entirely in ex-Bourbon casks. It takes the name Machrie Moor from the largest peat bog on the island, which also is an area used often for archeological digs.
Distillery's Tasting Note: "Aroma: Subtle and elusive initially. Hints of fudge, coconut and spice with a teasing touch of the glorious peat reek to follow. Palate: Classic Arran at first with notes of citrus, orchard fruits and cardamom spice mingling in a rich melting pot. At the back of the palate peat smoke finally emerges to whip up a storm. Finish: The peat reek takes centre stage leaving a rich, warming glow like the burning embers of a bonfire."

Previously dubbed the Johnnie Walker Platinum Label, this 18 year old was originally released globally in 2012. There are 14 to 16 malt and grain components in this Blended Scotch whisky, with Blair Athol, Glen Elgin, Mortlach and Cardhu doing the heavy lifting. Bottled at 43% ABV.

Nose: A wonderfully rich aroma, combining notes of rich, sweet fruit with hints of toffee and caramel.
Palate: A comforting mix of warming, malty cereal and smooth creamy vanilla, with fragrant notes of almond and tropical tangerine.
Finish: A lingering finish with hints of dark chocolate, citrus peel and a very light, aromatic smoke.
