Renzo Seghesio has worn many shoes, farmer and winemaker, cartographer and former mayor of Monforte d’Alba: upon studying winemaking in Alba, Renzo has received a master's degree in biology from the University of Turin and, since returning to Monforte in the 1960s and founding his winery, his intent and focus have been dedicated to the single goal of growing and selecting the best possible fruit from the unique terroir of the family parcels.
Since 1968 Renzo has gone from making his first wine in his family's garage to producing over 70.000 bottles per year from the own-grown grapes of the family estates currently spanning over 14 hectares of land
The fruit for the Barolo Ginestra comes from the upper portion of the south-west facing Ginestra Vineyards; grapes are destemmed with a focus on quality of cluster separation and selection. 15% of the berries in the fermentation vats are maintained whole.

The "Poderi Aldo Conterno" winery is situated in Bussia of Monforte d'Alba which is the heart of the Barolo wine area. The estate, which vinifies exclusively its own grapes, consists of 25 hectares of vineyard. Most of the soil, which is at an altitude of 350 - 400 m. above the sea level, is located South / South - West and is composed of clayey marls and limestone with layers of sand. The yields per hectare are very low and the total production is about 90.000 bottles a year. The harvest begins in mid September and done exclusively by hand with a very careful selection of the picked grapes. Always following a strict family tradition, red wines are neither clarified nor filtered. They are regarded as one of the finest producers in Piedmont.
