Oddero's roots go back to the end of the 18th century when their ancestors began to make wine under their own name. The wine cellars, located in the frazione Santa Maria of La Morra, are situated on a natural terrace and overlook the hills of the Langhe. Immersed in a sea of beautifully tended vineyards, their winery cultivates 35 hectares in the best crus of the Langhe and Asti territories to make some of Piedmont’s most renowned wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Langhe nebbiolo, Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Barbera d’Asti, and Moscato. Traditional knowledge and modern production bring the best of both worlds to these wines.

750 mlA blend of fruit from three MGA sites (Bricco Chiesa, Capalot and Fiasco), the Oddero 2021 Barolo reveals cassis and dried cherry, but it also shows extra spice and smoke at the back. You get mineral nuances over a well-structured and firm Nebbiolo. This wine requires a little extra time before it fully opens. Once it does, it offers a beautiful mouthfeel with zesty freshness, minerality and lots of energy. It undergoes a spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, and the wine ages in botte grande for 24 months. Production is 48,000 bottles, and the wine is priced competitively.

From a prized single vineyard at high elevation, Casasilia (the estate's original name) is the winery’s most structured and age-worthy wine. 100% Sangiovese, aged in large oak casks for 18 months, it shows layered aromas of dark cherry, fennel seed, tobacco leaf, with a hint of Tuscan underbrush. It's deep, refined, and savoury Chianti Classico Gran Sezelione, ideal for the cellar, but drinkable now with a good decant. Pair with bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-cooked lamb, or spaghetti with fresh truffles. We have some magnums and 3-litre bottles as well, ideal for the cellar. The 2021 vintage is widely considered as one of the best ever in Chianti.
