They are calling it Ledaig, but there is no mention of peat in the tasting note, so is it actually Tobermory? We've seen this before... Prior to the mid-2000s Tobermory was produced almost exclusively for blending. At this time even the unpeated make was often put into cask labelled as Ledaig, the distillery's original name! This 1993 vintage Tobermory/Ledaig is bottled at 57.2%

This 17 year old Tobermory from the Isle of Mull was matured in a Refill Hogshead, originally filled in 2008, and bottled at 54.9%.

Initially filled into a Refill Hogshead, this 23 year old Master of Malt Ledaig was bottled in 2018, at 46.8%, after finishing in an Oloroso Sherry Octave cask.
Tobermory 12 Year

The Tobermory 12-year-old replaces the old flagship 10-year old, which is now out of production. The 12-year-old was aged primarily in ex-Bourbon and other American Oak casks and is bottled at 46.3% ABV.
The quirky ABV is a standard throughout owner Distell's Scottish Whisky brands, which also include Deanston and Bunnahabhain Distillery.
Tobermory Distillery resides on the Isle of Mull which lies west of mainland Scotland. The distillery focuses on creating unpeated whisky for its aptly named Tobermory whisky line as well as a heavily peated style known as Ledaig.

A mystery peated (33 ppm apparently) single malt bottled at 46% without colouring or chill-filtering. What is the source? We have been told it isn't Islay and the label makes no such claims Islay either. We have our own ideas on where the malt could be from, but we don't know for sure!

It has been a hot minute since we have gotten anything older than the venerable 12-year-old when it comes to official bottlings of Tobermory. The 21 is here now though - at least for a minute or two! Bottled at 46.3% ABV, the whisky was aged in Oloroso sherry casks for its final four or five years of maturation.

"Joining our award winning 12 year old in the unpeated Tobermory whisky core range, this 21 year old is small batch produced at our distillery on the Isle of Mull. Distilled into whisky refill cask on the 16th of December 1999, this spirit was then transferred into Oloroso sherry casks on the 26th of February, 2015. The result is a beautifully sweet and vibrant dram. Like all our whiskies, this is non-chillfiltered and natural colour, with an abv of 46.3%, mirroring our other core range expressions."
