Taylor White Port

The team behind the Taylor's Port house are pioneers of this exciting style, having introduced it in 1934. It is made in exactly the same way as conventional Port, but with white grapes rather than red. As the name suggests, it has a drier, fruity taste, and is best served chilled. White Port has a lovely fruity taste and makes an unusually good aperitif. Add one part white Port to one part tonic. Serve over rocks and add a crescent of thinly sliced lemon. Ahh!

This is an incredible example of an old Tawny port, and it's a real rarity, as so few houses will make a 40 year old tawny. This wine is olive gold in color, with rich caramel, butterscotch, hazelnut flavors. The concentration in this port also produces a wine with amazing length, which lingers beautifully on the palate.
