Rodrigo Méndez of Forjas del Salnés (known locally as Rodri) is the 5th generation in a family that has grown and crafted quality wine for centuries. Today he is considered one of the greatest Albariño producers in Spain, offering more than 15 small-batch bottlings from the micro-terroirs around the Val do Salnés, the most coastal subzone in DO Rías Baixas (his grandfather established this appellation). In another homage to his family’s legacy, Rodri is also leading the revitalization of several nearly extinct local red varietals. Thanks to his rigorous approach and deep regional knowledge, Rodri’s wines are pure expressions of the diverse Salnés terroirs. As a winemaker, he embraces historic techniques that highlight the personality of the different vineyard sites and his basic philosophies and commitment to organic and low-intervention production (native yeast fermentation, extended lees contact without batonnage, minimal sulphur) are consistent across all his wines. As a grower, Rodri has deep respect for his region’s ancient vineyard sites and trains his vines in the traditional Parral (pergola) system; he takes a hands-on approach by insisting on longer hang times and manual harvest, all while practicing organic agriculture.

The Sierra de Gredos is an area of rugged granite peaks, forests and hilltop towns southwest of Madrid. The combination of high altitude, free-draining granitic soils, and a long growing season gives it a unique micro-climate. Vines cling to scree-slopes like mountain goats, many of these sites were abandoned decades ago, but a new generation of growers is rediscovering them. Dani Landi was one of the pioneers working with the old vines here, making elegant, mineral wines, that are redefining what was previously viewed as a workhorse variety into something that can rival the elegance and finesse of some of the world’s most sought-after reds. Curro Barreño, one half of the brilliant Ribeira Sacra project Fedellos, also grew up in this area. He’s a childhood friend of Dani, sharing many bottles together and winemaking influences. Since 2021 Curro has taken over responsibility for Dani’s vineyards in Méntrida and is making wines under the Vitícola Mentridana label. Curro’s building on Dani’s meticulous foundations, interpreting the vineyards, and working with a light touch in the winery.
Bodegas Borsao Rose

Bodega Borsao is situated in Borja, in the Northwest of the province of Zaragoza, considered to be a sub-unit with its own characteristics within the region of Moncayo, in the occidental sector of the province. The winery has been the origin and engine of the D.O. “Campo de Borja”, in Aragón, north-eastern Spain or as it is also known “The Empire of Garnacha”.
The vineyards are between 10 to 25 years old and the soils are stony and slimy with clay and limestone.
The wine undergoes maceration for 6-12 hours and is then bled-off. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 14º-18º C.
