400 kilometres north of Santiago, Chile, sits the Elqui Valley, effectively a high-altitude desert (the Atacama desert) in the Coquimbo Region. The vineyards extend from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes, and the arid region relies on the Elqui River for irrigation, which is essential if grapes are to flourish here. At 2000 metres above sea level, it draws a parallel to the vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina, on the other side of the Andes. The soils, comprised mainly of clay, silt and chalk, and the hot, clear days and cool nights offer near-perfect growing conditions. It's also one of the darkest places on earth to stargaze, and as such, it's a World UNESCO Heritage Site, drawing both wine lovers and stargazers alike. Viña Mayu was established in 2005 as a separate winery from the Elqui Valley’s first fine wine producer, which was founded in 1998. Mauro Olivier was one of the pioneers planting vines for fine wine production, sourcing the grapes from the different parts of the valley. He started working on his family vineyards for table grape production at a young age, and years later, he began working in Pisco production (the national Chilean spirit, made from white wine). In 2000, he planted the first Carménère and Syrah vines in the valley. Five years later, he decided it was time to embark on his own wine project, under the Mayu label. Mayu is an ancient INCA name for the Milky Way, meaning "creek of stars."

Tequila Ollitas is made by the great Orendain Family, which has been making the Mexican Spirit since 1840. The Ollitas lineup is produced at the Casa Mexicana Distillery by Marcela Orendain Gonzalez. Marcela's brothers Jaime and Eduardo are responsible for the production of Arette Tequila at the nearby El Llano Distillery.

The father-son team of Noël and Loïc Bulliat is currently in charge of the family estate. Loïc is the seventh generation to operate the domaine. There have been many changes with the acquisition of parcels since its creation in 1780, with vineyards now covering over almost 28 hectares distributed over eight appellations, including five “crus”, Morgon, Fleurie, Chénas, Chiroubles, and Moulin à Vent. Concern for the environment, respect for nature and the desire to express the terroir led the domaine towards the conversion to organic viticulture in 2010.
This crisp and lively Chardonnay seems purpose-built to convert anybody still firmly entrenched in the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) movement. As the name Sur La Granit implies, this organic white wine boasts plenty of minerality and citrus zing to keep things interesting. Yet like most of father & son duo Noel & Loic Bulliat's wines, it remains in the 'dangerously crushable' category. "Yet another new label for our first ever back from Denmark’s Fary Lochan distillery. It’s a small family distillery, now run by three siblings, and their mother. The distillery is named after the lake on the plot and an ancient spelling of the town, Farre, it’s located in. Founder Jens-Erik Jorgensen, who sadly died in 2016, found inspiration from memories of smoked cheese from his mother used to smoke over fresh nettles. Jens-Erik made his first tests of smoking his whisky-malt with nettles in 2009."

"When we learnt that the distillery was located in the village of Farre (which was previously known as Fary) we had that far far away fairy tail image in our head, and so our label is based up on an old style fairy tale woodland glade and a small glistening lake."
