Not only a very well priced old whisky, but a stunning one at that. Distilled in 1982 the whisky was matured 37 Years in an ex-Bourbon cask. This Lowland Single Grain whisky was distilled in 1982 and bottled at 50.8%. Only a dozen bottles came to Alberta, exclusively to KWM.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: old Bajan rum, dulce de leche and bread and butter pudding; toasted coconut, butter cream and vanilla icing sugar and charred oak; silky and floral with white fruits and citrus.
Palate: soft, floral, decadent and toasty; more old Bajan rum, bread and butter pudding and creme brule; baked apple crumble, shredded coconut and butter cream icing; poached pears and figs in honey.
Finish: light but long and elegant; decadent, fruity and floral with delicate spice.
Comment: an absolutely beautiful old single grain; elegant, layered and complex with loads of fruits, spices and a buffet of desserts.

MELLOW AND ALLURING
This 36 year old single grain whisky from a closed Lowland distillery comes in at 46.8% after maturing in a refill hogshead.
Flavour profile: Sweet, fruity & mellow.
Outturn: 144 bottles.
Panel's tasting note: "The rich, inviting nose conjured up an age gone by – polished wood, pipe tobacco in a leather pouch and vanilla pods, with additional alluring sweetness of toffee, honey, Sugar Puffs and pink wafers. The palate also hinted at leather, tobacco and vanilla, with sweeter dimensions of Rich Tea, Garibaldis, toffee and banana loaf.
The impression was of mellow understatement; a very appealing combination of venerable age with a lighter playful touch. Water brought mango, banana chips and bourbon-like wood spices to the nose – a blooming flower to be treated with care. The palate was now juicy, sweet and tropical – eminently quaffable."

Nose: Thick, rich and oily. Rapeseed oil, grapes, avocados and hints of pork scratchings and gingerbeer.
Palate: Golden syrup, melted butter on wholemeal toast. Rye bread, sweetcorn and apple sauce.
Finish: Brandy snaps, poppy seeds, watermelon and grated ginger.

This 1987 Invergordon comes to us from indie bottler Cooper's Choice - who has a knack for bottling very good single grains. Aged in a Bourbon Cask and bottled at 49.5% ABV and 30 years of age. Invergordon Distillery is owned by Whyte & Mackay, who are more well-known for also owning the Dalmore and Jura Distilleries.

Bottled exclusively for KWM, a 42 year old partial Hogshead cask of Single Grain Scotch Whisky, distilled in 1976 at a Secret Grain Distillery. We don't know which Grain Distillery for sure, probably Girvan, but a Lowland Grain Distillery to be sure. Bottled at 46.2%.Only 72 bottles came in, with about a dozen left!
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: silky, decadent, toasty and antique-y with floral and fruity tones; quintessentially grain, with loads of complexity; marzipan, orange pith and soft toasted oak.
Palate: soft, toasty and very silky; wow, lush, elegant and antique-y; sweet, honeyed and fruity with loads of citrus and melons; toasted oak and decadent hot spices build up; loads vanilla, more marzipan and even a touch of chocolate; late salty tones, and Marcona almonds.
Finish: long, decadent, toasty and coating; still silky and creamy with citrus and melons.
Comment: spectacular stuff, whether you are a fan of grain whiskies or not; antique-y but fresh and very fruity; no sign of the bitterness which can come with advanced age; shame we have a total of just 48 bottles coming, because this is a cask we would have most definitely gone bigger on!
Cadenhead Small Batch Cambus 28 Year

Distilled at Cambus in 1991, this Single Grain from Cadenhead was aged for 28 years in an ex-Bourbon hogshead then bottled at a cask strength of 55.8%.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Honey, spice, marshmallows and crunch nut cornflakes. Creamy with a lemon balm note running through the middle
Palate: Caramel wafers, honeycomb, satsumas and peaches in syrup.
Finish: Long lingering honey, apple juice and star anise.
