Ladyburn distillery only ran for 9 years or so, producing single malt scotch to be blended into the likes of Grant's Blended Scotch. Finding any bottlings from this distillery is becoming near impossible as time goes on, since it closed for good 45 years ago. This Blackadder Ladyburn was aged in cask for 43 years and was bottled at a cask strength of 41.9% ABV.
Ladyburn was a short-lived distillery owned by William Grant & Sons of Grant's, Glenfiddich, and Balvenie fame. In 1963, the family-owned company opened a grain whisky distillery in the Lowlands called Girvan, which still operates to this day. In 1996, two pairs of pot stills were installed on the same site as Girvan, and the malt portion of the the distillery was called Ladyburn. The single malt operation only lasted until 1975 when it was closed and the stills were eventually dismantled in the 1980s. 33 years later in 2008 a new single malt distillery opened up on Girvan's site, this time under the name Ailsa Bay.

Producer Description & Tasting Note: “Drawn from a refill ex PX Sherry butt, this has the colour of Lion’s golden syrup with a medium bead. On the nose there is freshly popped popcorn, peaches, nectarines, gingerbread, orange peel, grapefruit juice and breakfast fruit salad. On the taste we found a lovely oily texture, Butterkist toffee popcorn, mint Matchmakers and overripe banana. A well-balanced dram with a pleasantly drying finish.”

Producer Description & Tasting Note: “A rare older bottling from this famous Island, the Jura has a lovely colour of old oak and having spent its life in a refill Oloroso sherry Hogshead. On the nose we found space hoppers, window putty and oodles of marzipan, fruitcake, Nutella, and rice pudding, with syrup and a fair amount of funk. The palate delivers Underberg bitters, juicy sultanas, sugared almonds, Stolen cake with clove syrup, and finishing herbaceous.”
