Darkness Aultmore 16 Year Oloroso
$143.99
Only 24 of 96 bottles of this 500ml whisky are coming to Canada, exclusively to KWM. Bottled at 53.9% by Master of Malt under their new "Darkness" label, this 16 year old Aultmore was finished for 3 months in a custom 50L Oloroso sherry cask.
Darkness is a new range of whiskies from Master of Malt. The company had Speyside cooperage build them custom 50L Octave casks from Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The whiskies were only finished in them for 3 months, but given the reduced ratio of surface area to whisky, the results were stunning. KWM has brought in a limited release of these whiskies a Canadian exclusive, and they are not expected to last long. These whiskies sold out a long time ago in the UK, it’s taken a while to get our share of the bottles here! The Aultmore was matured 16 years before finishing in a 50L Oloroso sherry cask. 53.7%
Master of Malt Tasting Note
Nose:Cherries, baked apples and freshly baked bread. Milka chocolate bars develop.
Palate: Oooh, it's like we've broken into the tuck shop and come out with bags full of chewy toffees and chocolate covered raisins. There's a subtle hint of red chilli during the mid-palate too.
Finish: Long with boiled sweets, blackcurrants and a little oak.."

Glen Garioch 1998 KWM Cask 206
$103.49
Andrew's notes: "I was very privileged to get a first crack at the small number of Glen Garioch casks the distillery made available for bottling. One really stood out, and we jumped on it. I can state that it is fruity, floral and very soft. A real standout from the typical Glen Garioch bottlings. Glen Garioch1998 KWM Cask 206 is a 16 Year matured in a first-fill ex-Bourbon barrel and bottled at 54.6%. Just 220 Bottles. Distiller’s Tasting Note: “Bourbon, vanilla and hazelnut cream with white peach and poached pear. Ice cream soda and mocha soak into the palate with traces of nut kernels and root ginger into the finish.”

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL
A 13 year old Campbeltonian dram from a Refill Sherry Hogshead bottled at 53.9%.
Profile: "Lightly peated."
Panel's Tasting Note: "The panel was in unanimous agreement this was as good as it gets. Imagine dipping ginger nuts in rich creamy latte with strawberry syrup. Throw in mint chocolate ganache and bramble jam. Old leather books in a library and waxed church pews with a puff of hickory smoke. The taste was of toasted marshmallow and peppered tuna steak. Ginger snap baskets with red berries and a drizzle of honey. Our American described her bizarre habit of dipping French fries into chocolate milk shake. On the finish, Coco Pops and crème caramel. The panel thought it must be using fake ID."
Drinking Tip: "Only for loved ones."
