Bruichladdich Octomore 6.1
$189.99
Bruichladdich distillery on Islay makes three very distinct styles of whisky: the lightly peated namesake Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, and the super-heavily peated Octomore. Release 6.1 is a 5 year old at 57% made from barley at a pre-distillation phenol level of 167ppm.
Bruichladdich Black Art 4
$354.99
The 4th release of Bruichladdich's Black Art series is a 1990 distillation bottled after 23 years at 49.2%. It was also the last put together by Master Distiller Jim McEwan before his retirement. Jim was always very guarded as to how he puts these whiskies together. " I get chocolate and coconut, tangerine and papaya and a wonderful infusion of barley sugar with a pinch of cinnamon and aniseed."
Producer Description: "This fourth incarnation of the now legendary Black Art is as enigmatic as ever, the composition of casks a mystery to all but its creator. Working with the very finest American and French oak to explore that most esoteric relationship between spirit and wood, Black Art 4 is Master Distiller Jim McEwan’s personal voyage into the heart of Bruichladdich. We believe in the soul of the artisan."
Producer Tasting Note
Character: The marriage of the spirit from truly magical casks has created a sensational texture, both sleek and suggestive. Lose yourself in the sweet, fruity, mellow oakiness of this bewitching spirit.
Colour: Albuquerque sunset.
Nose: The aromas rise and mingle beautifully creating an olfactory symphony in your hand. Little notes of rich, plump, crystallised grapes flirt over heavier notes of honey. Go deeper and you will find the tang of lemon and lime – This is the DNA of our Bruichladdich spirit; the terroir of ancient peat lands and Islay’s exposed coastline, living, breathing proof that magic really does exist.
Palate: Without water the first thought that enters my head is wow! This is strong and my cheeks flush, my eyes water but my heart is in heaven. Its so, so mellow and mature and yes, you can find all of the aromatics on the taste buds and more!!! I get chocolate and coconut, tangerine and papaya and a wonderful infusion of barley sugar with a pinch of cinnamon and aniseed. Completely mesmerising.
Finish: Grilled peach and apricot sprinkled with demerera sugar, quite outstanding.
Mood: Drink whenever you wish, with whomever you wish. The last to leave will be the angels who danced with the devil and won.

Hazelburn Rundlets & Kilderkins
$102.59
Rundlets & Kilderkis are small casks commonly used in the 1700s and 1800s because they were small enough to smuggle. Distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2010 after 10 years and at 50.1%. The small casks have kicked up the speed of maturation. This is a one off release, following on the heels of the Springbank and Longrown Rundlet's & Kilderkins bottlings.
Distillery Tasting Note
Nose: An infusion of chocolate, honeycomb and dried fruit combine well with a malty undertone, before a rich creaminess develops.
Palate: Elegant yet complex with a combination of spices, sweeter candy notes, butterscotch, marzipan and sugared almonds. A rich oily texture is derived from its maturation in small casks, giving the impression of a maturity beyond its 10 years.
Finish: Long, robust and medium dry. An earthy oakiness is infused with sweet salty notes which go on and on.
