Tremblay Petit Chablis
$35.99
A value-priced crisp white wine! Gerard and Helene are the winemaking couple behind Domaine Gerard Tremblay, a family-owned winery with roots that date back five generations. Made of 100% Chardonnay, this beautiful, light-bodied dry wine is a great pairing with seafood.
Duplessis Chablis 1er Montmains
$96.99
The 2017 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has a crisp and taut, slighty austere bouquet that takes time to get warmed up in the glass, retaining those classic flint and smoke aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a fine bead of acidity, touches of orange rind and dried apricot with a gentle, caressing finish that seems to just " wash over" the senses.
Organic farming and natural winemaking are not the first things to come to mind when thinking of Chablis. Industrial farming is commonplace, with chemical pesticides and mechanical harvesting in the vines and lab yeasts and other winemaking tricks in the cellar. There are, however, a few producers working against the norm, farming with respect for the earth and employing traditional methods in the cellar. Lilian Duplessis not only farms organically (certified as of the 2013 vintage), he continuously succeeds in making some of the most profound, energetic, and simply delicious wines that Chablis can offer.
Chablis is a region well-known for its unique Kimmeridgian soils. Light gray in colour (almost white, in fact) and limestone based, the soils formed around 150 million years ago. These soils are rich with Exogyra virgule – tiny oyster fossils from when the region was underwater, which give a sharp, mineral aspect to these famed wines.
Lilian is the second generation of vignerons to farm 9 hectares of old vines planted by his father, Gérard, and produces wines from the Village level as well as some of the most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru vineyard sites. His philosophy for working in harmony with the earth translates to how he works in the cellar: native yeast fermentations, long lees ageing in stainless steel tank followed by a six-to-eighteen month (depending on the vintage) elévage in neutral oak barrels before being bottled with a minimal addition of sulphur.
These are powerful wines that are built for ageing and will reward patient cellaring.
Tremblay Chablis Vielles Vignes
$42.99
"Characteristic aromas of white flowers, pink, acacia honey, round and rich on the palate, intense nose and mouth, very smooth and excellent development. With hints of green and yellow, this wine is generous. Round, large, persistent, its flavors develop quite quickly. This wine should be drunk young, but you can also keep it five years."
L`Enclos Chablis 1er Vaude V
$97.99
Domaine de l'Enclos is 33 hectares of organically farmed vines (Ecocert certification) on the 4 levels of the Chablis designation and notably on some of the most beautiful terroirs of the vineyard. The property is located in the heart of Chablis in a large estate, a former residence of the monk workers of Pontigny Abbey, comprising a large 19th-century building and a partly underground cellar built in 2016.
Most of their work is done in the vineyards. They take the greatest care in their vineyards to extract the best from them: respectful Poussard pruning, organic fertilizers, disbudding, careful trellising, leaf removal, and manual harvesting on all our vintages. We attach great importance to the life of our soils, which we maintain by scratching and sowing. To protect our vines from diseases, they only use products of natural origin, copper, sulphur and plant preparations. The domaine is fully certified in BIO.
Eleonore Moreau Chablis Magnum
$114.99
Eleonore Moreau's family had been farming grapes from their vineyards in Chablis since the 1980s and in 2011 she made the decision to produce their own wines rather than selling the fruit to other producers. There's a classic Chablis purity that runs through her wines, in part due to the Kimmeridgian limestone soils that are part of Chablis' claim to fame. Aged in stainless steel (without the influence of oak), the wines remain on their less for 12 - 18 months prior to bottling. The extended lees times lend them richness and complexity with the classic Chablis minerality at the forefront.
Domaine De Lenclos Chablis 1Er Fourchau
$99.99
L'Enclos has become a superstar in Chablis, joining the ranks of such legendary names Raveneau and Dauvissat, albeit at much more reasonable prices, for now anyway.
Domaine De Lenclos Chablis 1Er Montmain
$91.99
Chablis at its best represents the purest expression of Chardonnay on the planet. Most are unadorned with oak and as such there is nowhere to hide if the wine is not impeccably made or if the vintage was less than ideal. Domaine de l'Enclos has risen to the top of Chablis ranks in recent years, and for good reason. This is pure, mineral-driven Chablis from one of the best premier cru sites in Chablis. Serve it with oysters, salmon, Thai food, and sushi.
Dom de LEnclos Chablis Fourch Magnum
$194.99
Romain and Damien Bouchard founded their winemaking estate only in 2016, yet they are the fourth generation of their clan to toil the classic and chalky, Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis. For decades, the family provided other winemakers with peerless Chardonnay fruit, pulled from impressive holdings in grand cru and premier cru vineyards, planted carefully by family hands. With a passion to craft Chablis wines according to “simple and natural” methods and with a good dose of “observation and patience,” the brothers—who call themselves “perfectionists”— have set a new, higher standard for the character-driven wines of Chablis
