Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1996

This curvy little number is the sixth bottle in Glenmorangie's Bond House No. 1 Collection. If you've been lucky enough to have tried any of the previous vintages, you'll have an idea of what you're getting into here. Glenmorangie has a spirit that's well suited to long maturation, but being Scotland's bestselling single malt means it's not easy to sit on stocks long enough to reach these double-decade-and-then-some kind of releases. I suppose that's not a bad problem to have from a business perspective, but it leaves the whisky geeks salivating to find hyper-mature Glenmorangie. Fortunately, we have this collection to fall back on. Brilliant whisky.
23-years-old, matured in first fill American Oak (read: ex-Bourbon), and bottled at 43%.
