Serradenari is considered the highest vineyard/winery in Barolo, where the views embrace the beauty of Piedmont and the neighbouring Alps. The name of the farmhouse, Serradenari, harkens back to centuries ago, when the Black Death forced the peasants of Barolo and La Morra to leave their lands and take refuge on the crest, taking with them all their savings – hence, the name Serradenari, from “Sara D’nè,” which in the local dialect means “sierra of money.” Serradenari is a Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (Cru) in the official Barolo Map, recognized as a “historical vineyard of specific, well-defined boundaries, which has been producing limited quantities of a fresh, elegant Barolo of extraordinary quality since 1880.” This particular Barolo is surprising, soft, feminine and bright, with a floral rose spice, accompanied by notes of red fruits. Elegant and well rounded, this wine transports you to the quiet, serene terrace of Serradenari.
