Produced from according to the distillery, "a mash of peated malt that is among the smokiest in the world." The whisky is matured in new (virgin) and 1st Fill American oak barrels. It is bottled at 46% after maturing a minimum of 24 months.
Westland Distillery was founded in Seattle Washington in 2011. The distillery produces only single malt whisky, which is unique for American craft distilleries. The distillery primarily uses Virgin or new American oak, but has also been maturing in Ex-Bourbon, Ex-Sherry and Port casks. The first whisky was released in 2013, and the distillery has quickly risen to the top amongst the crowded field of American craft distillers. In 2016, the distillery was sold to Remy Cointreau, who are also the owners of Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay in Scotland.
Distiller's Tasting Note: "The nose starts off with a background of nuttiness accompanied by smoldering moss and flamed orange peel. The peat leaps from the palate, expressing campfire notes, iodine, and roasted pistachios. With time, the smoldering moss on the nose evolves into burning embers and roasted plantains. The palate also transitions over time, moving towards significant earth notes, green herbs and increasing iodine towards the finish."

This wheated bourbon left Billy Idol crying more, more, more and purportedly used to be a favourite of both Keith Richards and Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. Bottled by a company named Luxco, who sources barrels for its various bottlings including Rebel Yell and Ezra Brooks. Luxco now operates its own distillery just outside of Bardstown, KY called Lux Row distillery.
Lux Row Distillery just opened in 2018, so it will be a while before this Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is actually bottled from that new spirit. Rebel Yell was previously produced through a contract with Heaven Hill Distillers at their Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, KY. 40% ABV.

High West has been around for a while in Park City, Utah – since 2007 to be exact. It was the first legal distillery to open in Utah since Prohibition.
High West Campfire is probably their most unique and also their most divisive product. The components of this bottle may give you an idea as to why: Campfire is a blend of Straight Rye Whiskey plus Straight Bourbon Whiskey – but that is not all! It also contains some Blended Malt Scotch – and this Scotch is Peated. Campfire is a wonderful mutant of a whiskey. Bottled at 46% ABV.
The components are all aged in a combination of charred new American Oak (the Bourbon and the Rye) and second use Bourbon Barrels (Likely the Blended Malt Scotch and possibly when the whiskeys are being married together). The compenents specifically are:

Stranahan’s Sherry Cask starts its life as 4 year old single malt whiskey aged in newly charred virgin oak barrels - the same as what is bottled as Stranahan’s Diamond Peak. What makes it different is that it is then finished in a combination of first fill and refill ex-Oloroso Sherry Casks before being hand-bottled at 47% ABV.
Made from 100% malted barley, this Single Malt Whiskey hails from Colorado. Well before the Craft Whiskey boom kicked off in the USA, Stranahan’s started distilling in 2004. It was Colorado’s first legal distillery founded since prohibition. In 2010 it was sold to Proximo Spirits of New Jersey.
