Poggio al Sole lies in the very heart of Tuscany, in the glorious countryside between Florence and Siena, between the towns of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and Greve in Chianti. Documents in the archives of the ancient abbey of Badia a Passignano nearby testify to the claim that wine and wine oil were produced on this estate as early as the 12th century.
This beautiful rosado is made from pure Sangiovese grapes; it's fresh, fruity and deliciously easy to drink. Puglia may not be the first wine-growing region that comes to mind when thinking of Italy, but it is the second only to Veneto in wine production. Located in the boot of Italy, the region is known primarily for Negroamaro and Primitivo when it comes to red wine grapes.
About The Winery
Cantina Cosimo Taurino was founded in 1970 by the legendary Apulian producer, Cosimo Taurino. He was a pioneer of Negroamaro, and of the Apulian wine industry, changing it's reputation of the 'not so great southern region that only produces bulk grapes for the north' to a region known for it's high-quality red and rosé wines. Ever since the winery opened it's doors, they have continued to grow and produce some of the best wines Puglia has to offer.

The Sumoll grape varietal is difficult to grow but has a very alluring personality that rewards the careful patience of growers and drinkers alike. Sumoll was far more prevalent in the Penedes and the Catalonia region in the 1800s. However, many of the vineyards in the region were destroyed by phylloxera and little Sumoll was replanted afterwards. Today, the grape is making a slow but steady rise within the region as it becomes prized for its uniqueness and ties to the area.
