"Tequila Ocho takes the exploration of terroir in tequila a giant step forward by producing batches of tequila from single fields (ranchos), much the way fine Burgundy wine is produced. For example, in the village of Vosne Romanee in Burgundy, wine is produced with the following appellations: Les Beaux Monts, La Montagne and Aux Brulees to name a few. Tequila Ocho has done the same thing by producing in Arandas the following names: El Carrizal, Las Pomez and Los Corrales," according to the distillery team. "El Refugio is 2055m above sea level with red oxide earth with many undulating contours. This rancho is located not far from the distillery where Ocho is made, La Alteña. The high elecation along with the local climate makes for agaves with a very high sugar content."
Tasting notes from the distillery for the Blanco or Plata:
Colour – Bright and clear, very light.
Aroma – Pomegranate, guava, tutti-frutti, grapefruit, peppermint and green olive brine.
Palate – Leads with sweet agave, spiciness, goes dry with grapefruit, returns to tropical fruit and on to spearmint

"Tequila Aha Toro has been handmade for over a century at the hacienda “El Olvido” in the tiny village of Jesùs Maria in the province of Jalisco. The hacienda is the centre of the distillery and has a wealth of history. Located in the highlands, at 2100 meters above sea level, the area benefits from the ideal growing conditions. Each bottle is a unique piece of hand blown glass also handcrafted by Mexican artisans," according to importer Lanigan-Edwards. "Blanco is in its most pure and simple state, true to its 100% agave essence. It is a powerful un-aged Tequila that shows how traditionally made Tequila from the mountains of Jalisco should taste. This lively and crisp tequila is the best choice for ultra premium cocktails. Aha Toro Blanco may also be enjoyed straight up in a snifter, chilled first in the refrigerator or the freezer, then sipped. Red apples are dominant with a hint of minerals and honey. Soft and fruity opening, followed by minerals and honey, with a sweet fruit and peppery finish."
