A Kensington Wine Market exclusive! The champagnes from Marie-Courtin are truly something special. An ultra-fine, elegant style with amazing freshness. Delicate and racy, yet absolutely unique in style thanks in part to biodynamic viticulture. All her grapes are grown in a single plot of 2.5 hectares, which is also the total size of the domain that Dominique Moreau founded in 2000. Because all her wines come from a single vineyard, she has decided to emphasize the differences in champagnes through vinification. There are wines matured in barrique, amphorae, enamel tanks and one without sulfur. All come from the 2.5 hectares of single vineyard on the Kimmeridge marl soil of the Soden, on the Côte des Bar. Winemaker Dominique Moreau, who named the estate after her grandmother, is a master of purism. Her champagnes are delicate and elegant, yet with underlying power and a high degree of drinking pleasure.
Brut Efflorescence (100% Pinot Noir) is at first rather cool and inward, then explodes on the palate with great intensity. It is a fabulous wine endowed with tons of persistence and sheer energy. The aromas and flavors build towards the rich, generous finish.

Champagne Marie Courtin and the small estate that comprises the vineyards are named after winemaker Dominique Moreau's grandmother.
Dominique Moreau has been making champagne on her tiny 2.5 ha estate since 2006. The vineyard is located in Champagne's southernmost region, the Côte-de-Bars, in the village of Polisot. The winery is named after her grandmother and she produces single varietal, single vineyard, single vintage, no dosage champagnes. The vines were planted in the 1970s and are farmed organically & biodynamically.
The estate's vineyard is mainly comprised of Pinot Noir and a small section of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. The combination of soils, an east/southeast sloping exposure and her own separately cultivated yeasts allows Dominique to create wines that are electric and chiselled, with an intense brininess and minerality at their core. Marie Courtin is an exciting estate whose name and reputation are skyrocketing.

The Champagnes from father-daughter duo Arnaud & Mathilde Margaine are a KWM exclusive, and they are exceptional. With vineyards based in Montagne de Reims, they specialize in Chardonnay (90%) although they also have a small plot of Pinot Noir. This small estate (7 hectares) was started by Arnaud's father (Bernard) in the 1950s and is organically farmed. The vines average 35 years of age and the Chardonnay is produced from a clone unique to the area.

He sold the brand name to Moet & Chandon, which used it as the name for its prestige cuvée, which was first released in 1937. A Kensington Wine Market exclusive! A grower-producer in the heart of Chigny-les-Rose, Giles Dumangin has champagne coursing through his veins. Dating back to the 1650s, the Dumangins have always worked with the vines of Champagne, but it wasn't until 1890 when Hippolyte Dumangin created Champagne Dumangin in the 1er Cru vineyards of Chigny-les-Roses. Five generations later, Champagne Dumangin is producing an array of wines, from their classic, feminine style to their newer, high-end cuvees. This non-vintage blend is made up of 47% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir and 16% Pinot Meunier, and it accounts for almost 50% of their production. It is a truly delicious wine, pale salmon in colour with an enticing scent of strawberry. On the palate, it offers subtle notes of raspberry and citrus with some toasty brioche notes on the finish.

The Philipponnat family has been growing grapes in Champagne since 1522. The House was founded in 1910 by Pierre Philipponnat. Charles Philipponnat took over as CEO in 1999 and has improved the quality and production vastly by implementing smaller oak barrels, keeping different vineyard plots separate and utilizing only the first press grapes It's made from a blend of 65% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Meunier from first press juice, mainly from Grand and Premier Crus grapes from the heart of the Champagne wine-growing area.
20 to 30% of the reserve wines are aged in wooden barrels using the solera system to incorporate older wines without losing freshness.
It's vinified using traditional methods to avoid premature oxidation. Partial malolactic fermentation and reserve wines are aged in casks to allow the aromas to develop complexity. It has a typical dosage of (8 g/litre) to maintain a balance between freshness, fruitiness and vinosity without masking the wine’s character and purity. It's aged on the lees in the domaine’s cellars at a constant temperature of 12°C for three
years, far longer than the legal minimum requirement of 15 months.
