A charming Chianti Classico from an excellent producer, and a Kensington Wine Market exclusive! Giovanni Davaz owns fifteen precious hectares of vineyards in Tavernelle Val di Pesa where he grows very fine Sangiovese, muscular Cabernet Sauvignon, and dense, powerful Syrah. Generous use of small barrels in vinification barely tame the exuberant, broad fruit quality of his wines, and the firm, large-scaled tannic structure in them makes them suitable for extended aging. Ripe and rich fruit gives this wine lush notes of sweet cherries and leather. Very food friendly, especially with herb-roasted chicken. Organic and vegan friendly!
750 mlPoggio al Sole always does an exemplary job with their Chianti Classico. The wine pours a brilliant ruby with garnet highlights. The nose is expressive and wildly aromatic with notes of fresh cherry, earth and savoury herbs. On the palate, the wine displays a brisk acidity with silky soft tannins and a rich, textured mouthfeel. The finish is refreshing and lifted, highlighted by the gorgeous interplay of cherry pie, black currants, and spice. Enjoy it with a plate of finocchiona (cured meat seasoned with fennel seeds and pollen) and pecorino cheese, or pasta with fresh tomatoes and basil. 2022 turned out to be a great vintage for Tuscany, a fact that is reflected in the wine. This is such a brilliant food wine, and the pairing possibilities are almost endless! Fun fact: we received magnums and 3-litre bottles for the first time!

Previously sold under the Chianti Colli Senesi name, this cuvée comes from part of Le Ragnaie (Troncone), a vineyard located just under the 600-meter limit decreed by the government for the production of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino) It offers aromas of black cherry and spices, with a rich and silky mouth. Its well-integrated tannins and persistent finish make it excellent value for money. Ideal to accompany grilled meats and pasta. A refined and pleasant Tuscan.
