2017 is a major vintage for this wine as they are celebrating 40 years of this Semillon wine. 1977 was the first year that Moss Wood produced a Semillon for commercial use. It was made with no barrel treatment and upon the first year of production was a major head turner. According to the winery "The wine has medium straw colour, with some green tints and its condition is bright. On the nose it is ethereal, with lifted perfumes of lemon sherbet, green apples, honey suckle and figs. Underneath there is just some early suggestions of the variety’s complex features like lanolin and mushroom. We always expect our Semillon to be relatively firm as a youngster and this wine certainly has good acidity and tannin. However, the fruit flavours of limes, figs and lychees are rich, generous and mouth-filling, so the wine displays softness and drinkability only seen in the great years."

Planted in 1969, Moss Wood is a founding estate of the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. Grapes were first planted on the estate in 1969 and Keith Mugford took over the estate in 1985. To this day, Moss Wood is considered one of the best growers and winemakers in the wine region, which itself is considered one of the premier wine regions of Australia.
The Estate property was first planted with Cabernet Sauvignon followed by Semillion and Pinot Noir. The Ribbon Vale property was acquired in 2000 is planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines.
Keith and his wife, Clare, have developed the vineyard and utilized their wine-making skill to consistently produce wines of great finesse and lasting capability.

Hector and Pablo Durigutti are the winemakers behind the Aguijón de Abeja wines. Hector started at Alto Las Hormigas at the age of 15 and has completed 25 projects at various well-known wineries, learning old-world techniques and agriculture.
