"This is Whisky Sponge Edition No.81, it is a multi-vintage potion created by marrying together a 1st fill sherry butt of 2005 Glentauchers with a 1st fill barrel of 2002 Glentauchers.
"The result is this scrumdidlyumtious 18 year old small batch bottling which we have bottled at 53% for extra quaffability and fruitiness.
"Please take care when leisurely sipping this whisky as you may accidentally relax and begin to feel the weariness of your existence drizzling down the figurative plughole of your soul. If this happens you may find yourself listening to jazz... you have been warned!"

Nose: a wonderful fusion of the bourbon and sherry influences. Orchard fruits and stewed dark fruits side by side, runny honey, waxes and notes of marmalade and shoe polish. Dense, full bodies and aromatically complex.
Palate: the natural weight and character of Glentauchers is really evident here, lots of fat waxy and honeyed notes, with underlying richness from the sherry in the form of tobacco and chocolate flavours.
Finish: long, velvety, waxy and full of many notes of dark fruits, crystalised orange peel and dried mango.

Part of a trio of 31 year old, heavily sherried, Gordon & MacPhail bottlings from the Chivas Distilleries at the heart of the Ballentine's Blend. This Glentauchers was distilled in 1990, filled into a First Fill Sherry Puncheon, Cask #14520, where it matured 31 years before bottling at 53.8%. 89.65pts Whiskybase
