Producer Description
"We love Ben Nevis primarily because of its magnificently thick and charismatic distillate. This 2013 refill butt was full-on distillate-driven glory, but we also decided to experiment a little with this cask, primarily because the natural ABV was super high, around 67%! So, we re-racked this butt into four refill American oak quarter casks in order to maximize the head space and expose the whisky to more air and oxidative ageing. We also started to manage the reduction of the whisky in cask so as to bring it down in stages to our preferred bottling strength of 52%, this was where we felt the sweet spot was that expressed the distillery character inits most waxy and grungy glory. The refill quarter casks worked well for this as they managed to round the whisky off without adding any overt or vulgar woodiness to the beautiful distillate. The result is a superbly charismatic, powerful and pure highlander!"
