This 2011 vintage Arran was bottled for The Companions of the Quaich, a Canadian whisky club. There are a couple of dozen bottles left now that the club has had their fill, and they are available on a first come first serve basis. The cask was identified by Andrew & Shawn when they were in Scotland in 2022. It was selected at the same time as the Arran 2013 KWM Cask. Matured in First Fill ex-Bourbon before bottling after 11 years at 57.7%.
700ml mlAndrew's Tasting Note
Nose: creamy, fruity, decadent, and malty; chocolate marzipan, smores, and almond paste croissants; jujubes, wine gums, and blue whales (candy); orange, melons, and Glosset Raisins; creamed honey and carrot cake with cream cheese icing.
Palate: soft, decadent, and fruity; juicy malt, crisp oak spices, and barley sugars; more jujubes, wine gums, and blue whales; whipped cream, chocolate marzipan, and smores; candied orange, crèma di Limone, and candied ginger; Jelly Modern’s carrot cake doughnut and honeycomb.
Finish: warming, toasty, fruity, and honeyed; medium long and coating, soft citrus fruit candies, honey, vanilla and chocolate.
Comment: sweet, fruity, and elegant, this is a lovely Arran malt; dangerously drinkable at cask strength.
