Single Cask, Cask Strength, 13-Year-Old Heaven Hill Bourbon? Yes, Please! From new indie bottler Moonbroch, this was distilled by Heaven Hill at their Bernheim distillery in 2009. No word on where the cask was aged between then and bottling, but it likely spent some time in Kentucky before heading overseas and further matured in Europe or the UK. Bottled at 56.4%

Evan's Tasting Note

Nose: Fresh hay, light rye toast, cherry cobbler, pink candy popcorn, chocolate mousse, Crunchie Bar, and candied, mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon. That's right, my in-laws have weird ideas on what constitutes a side dish for holiday dinners. I love them regardless.

Palate: Big and rich with brandied cherries, roasted cashew nuts, sponge toffee, milk chocolate, and a touch of salt that pulls it all together and makes it sing.

Finish: Creamy yet slightly dry, with peaches, roasted nuts, nutmeg and more. Lovely.

Comments: Single Cask, high strength, decade-plus old bottlings of Heaven Hill just don't happen often enough. Get this one while you can!
