This is the first bottling we have ever seen from Roseisle, and a well-matured Distillery Bottling, at that! Matured 12 years in First Fill Ex-Bourbon and Refill Casks.56.5% ABV.

Nose: Fresh malt with fleshy orchard fruits and a touch of waxiness. Notes of chamomile, white chocolate, wholegrain toast with butter spread and melting on top, and a hint of vanilla pod.
Palate: A bit rugged and spicy up front; still showing it’s youthful and spirit-driven side. More notes of white chocolate along with white pepper, vanilla ice cream, shortbread cookies, lycée, macadamia nut, ripe banana, and drying toasted oak.
Finish: More spice and oak in a quiet battle with the creamy, sweet, and fleshy fruit notes.
Comment: Bold and perhaps a bit aggressive and youthful, even at 12 years old. A fun and enticing first release regardless.

“Smoothly creamy in texture and sweet to taste, with vanilla icing, before a spicier complexity brings balancing richness. There are more notes of vanilla midpalate, soaring above a deep fruitiness, and the sweetness lasts throughout. Very appealing to drink, both straight and with a dash of water, which softens and sweetens it.”

The inaugural Roseisle 12-year-old was a highlight of last year's Diageo Special Releases. In terms of flavour profile, it sits comfortably in the 'safe zone,' but in terms of execution, it offers a fair bit more than a typical Speysider in this age bracket. We've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of additional expressions from this distillery ever since. And while it would be nice to have something a little more exotic than a second version of essentially the same whisky (same age and cask makeup), it's also a great opportunity to see how consistent we can expect Roseisle to be.

This is the 3rd release of Roseisle to appear in a Diageo Special Release, and at 14 years it is the oldest yet. Bottled after 54.3% after maturing in Refill and Rejuevenated casks.

Mid-level peated malt from western Isle of Skye. This non-age stated Talisker seems to be a variant on Port Rhuighe, but cranked up to 59.7% abv. This one should be an absolute powder keg!
