This is one of the youngest Highland Park's we have ever seen bottled. Distilled in 2016, this 5 year old malt was matured in an STR Barrique before bottling at 57.8%.

Nose: Lively with notes of citrus and vanilla blending with smoky and earthy notes, dried fruit and hints of tea.
Taste: Intense with notes of vanilla, citrus, caramel, barley malt, ginger and freshly cut grass with a whiff of smoke.
Finish: Enveloping and of medium persistence, slightly spicy, with notes of yellow fruit, tea leaves, vanilla and earthy peat.

Valknut is the second release in Highland Park's Viking Legend series. Produced from a higher proportion of spirit peated with Orkney malt and predominantly matured in Sherry seasoned casks, Valknut is said to be a sweeter and smokier take on Highland Park. Bottled without added colouring at 46.8%.

"Created using a higher proportion of our local peated malt and predominantly matured in sherry seasoned oak casks to give this whisky its smoky, sweet flavour, "VALKNUT is the second in our Viking Legend series, celebrating our rich Nordic ancestry here on Orkney.
"Valknut means ‘knot of those slain in battle’ and its symbol of three interlinked triangles appears on numerous artefacts from the Viking Age. The symbol is closely associated with the Norse god, Odin, who guided the spirits of the dead to the underworld and back to the world of the living, and is believed to represent the transition from life to death or the connection between earthly life and heavenly life."

The 2022 Highland Park Cask Strength, Edition No. 3, was created from whiskies matured in first fill American and European oak sherry seasoned casks as well as a small quantity of refill casks, before bottling at an impressive 64.1%.

"This third release has been created using an expertly balanced combination of three cask types – first-fill sherry seasoned American and European oak casks and a smaller quantity of refill casks for balance and depth. Using a higher proportion of Orkney peated malt, our Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, has achieved an intensely smoky character, coming through first on the nose with aromas of smouldering peat and lightly charred oak, balanced by honey-glazed lemons and crushed aniseed.
"Discover what best suits your palate by experimenting with the amount of water you add as you release this whisky’s distinctive notes of ripe mango, cloudy heather honey and whipped vanilla cream with a hint of aromatic violet. Pink grapefruit zest, freshly-baked sponge cake and a final gust of heathery peat smoke provide a long and distinctive finish."

"Introducing... Orkney Sponge! Our mash up of the Whisky Sponge and Old Orkney brands because we're into that kind of fun and nonsense! Edition OO1 is a 1998 refill hogshead of 23 year old Highland Park. It has been bottled at natural cask strength of 57.0% and has a surprisingly peaty and almost old style HP profile with plenty dry herbal and medical notes with loads of coastal freshness. Just the style we adore from this, one of our favourite distilleries. Old Orkney was, of course, the brand associated with Stromness back before the distillery sadly closed in the 1920s. It was way ahead of its time in terms of funny and witty advertising and super elegant, cool branding. It has long been an inspiration for what we've tried to do with Sponge, which is why we went out of our way to buy the brand. Orkney Sponge is our first wee experiment at having some fun with Old Orkney."
