The Amador Whiskey Company was created by Trinchero Family Estates, a name that is much more well-known in wine circles. The cool part about this for whiskey lovers is though this is a sourced Bourbon, the source is an excellent distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky that unfortunately has yet to offer any of its own whiskey in Canada. That source is Willet Distillery.

That's right - this Wheated Bourbon with a mashbill of 65% Corn, 20% Wheat, and 15% Barley was made at WIllet. It was aged in your typical virgin, charred American oak barrels for 3 years and then finished in Napa Cellars Chardonnay barrels for 9-12 months. It is bottled at 43%.

Partnerships include Barton 1792 in Bardstown Kentucky, Willett in Bardstown Kentucky, Castle & Key in Frankfort Kentucky, and Charbay in Ukiah California. Each Amador Whiskey is then finished in different Trinchero Family wine barrels in Napa Valley for a complex and unique flavor profile."

Evan’s Tasting Note

Nose: Light wood spice and a touch of orange oils along with peaches and cream, white chocolate, sweet tea, and a touch of fresh mint.

Palate: Creamy with even more peach notes, both fresh off the tree and fresh from the can. Light apricot jam, citrus, maraschino cherries, brown sugar, and peach cobbler. I know I said peach twice. It is a struggle not to say it a third time.

Finish: Juicy with mint and pleasantly bitter citrus oil and grassy notes carried along on a lingering creamy texture.

Comments: This drinks oh so nicely at 43%. It is smooth, juicy and delicious. I would love to try a cask-strength version if only just to compare. To quote Bowser: “Peaches, Peaches, Peaches-Peaches-Peaches”.

"Amador Double Barrel is a wheated bourbon aged in new charred American oak barrels for 3 years, which creates flavors of brown sugar, nuts, and baking spices. It is then finished in former medium toast French Oak Chardonnay barrels for 9-12 months, which provides additional vanilla notes and a creamy mouthfeel. The “Double Barrel” aging technique creates characteristics from the individual barrels that are then blended together to make an exceptional tasting Bourbon, far greater than the sum of its parts"
