700ml mlEvan’s Tasting Note
Nose: Apple Cobbler, Cointreau, French Vanilla ice cream, lemon meringue pie, Honeycombs cereal, Marcona almonds, and a touch of dunnage and wet oak.
Palate: Assorted gummy bears, lychee, pear pie, apple strudel, an Arnold Palmer (Lemonade mixed with iced tea), shortbread cookies, and a red velvet cupcake with white chocolate buttercream frosting.
Finish: Sweet and juicy with good length. There are plenty of candied orchard fruit notes and more lychee on the fade.
Comment: Oh man, is this tasty. It is fairly soft and easygoing for 52%, and dangerously drinkable because of it.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Soft orchard fruit is joined by gently contrasting hints of citrus: baked apples and ripe pears with a squeeze of lemon and a spoon of marmalade. Grassiness follows, run through with fragrant mint leaves and balanced by juicy nectarine and wax-polished oak.
Palate: Sweet and fruity with underlying layers of spice. Baked apple with cinnamon is contrasted against creamy lemon tarts, buttery pastry and cooling mint fondant. A hint of char and oak hides underripe mango and pineapple.
Finish: Pineapple becomes apple as char fades and soft spice lingers.
