Our 5th KWM exclusive Benromach cask (3rd in the current packaging) was bottled just shy of its 20th birthday, having matured in a single first-fill ex-Bourbon Barrel. This whisky is bright, creamy, tropical, and decadent with clean smoke. It is the closest thing we've ever tasted to the legendary twenty-something Broras... Only 196 bottles were filled at 56.2%.

Nose: decadent, fruity, and waxy, with clean smoke; honeycomb, beeswax, and clotted cream; macadamia nuts and toasted almonds; then the tropical fruits creep in... pineapple, mango, and canteloupe; tarte tatin, juicy orange and citrus too; sugar, spice, and all things nice... subtle clean wood smoke.
Palate: big, decadent, and fruity with waxy honey infused with sandalwood; sooooo much honey... creamed heather honey, beeswax, and honeycomb; the malt makes a surprising appearance, clinging to the clean wood smoke; candied ginger and warm oak spices develop as the fruits come into full bloom: mango, papaya, baked apples, grilled pineapple, and orange Starbursts; late chocolate and vanilla.
Finish: it keeps going, and going, and going.... warming, fruity, toasty and spicy with waxy tones and sandalwood smoke.
Comment: Wow... simply, wow; is Benromach the new Brora? I could pad this out with more praise and fluff, but this whisky is simply stunning, it speaks for itself... honeyed, waxy, tropical, and elegantly smoked!

Our first-ever store-exclusive cask of Kavalan is a Solist Oloroso Sherry cask, S1705181510, to be specific. It was bottled at 52.4% on July 21st, 2023 after 6 years and two months in cask. We haven't seen much of the Solist Oloroso Sherry expression in recent years, so we asked if they'd consider sending us a few samples so we could bottle our own cask. They did, and one of them stood head and shoulders above the other... so naturally we had to have it!
Hot climate maturation supercharges aging process, and also the angels share. So there are only 205 total bottles. Get em while they're hot!

The Daftmill 15 Year Cask Strength bottling contains whisky from the distillery's second year of production. To our knowledge, it is the oldest Daftmill yet to be bottled. Distilled in 2006, the whisky for this release was matured in 28 1st Fill ex-Bourbon Barrels for 15 years before bottling at 55.7%. Once more we are the only retailer in Canada to receive it 89pts Angus @WhiskyFun & 87.82pts Whiskybase

Once again our friends at Gordon & MacPhail have outdone themselves by offering us the opportunity to bottle this gorgeous cask. At 33 years of age, this 1988 vintage Bladnoch is the oldest KWM exclusive cask we have had the privilege of bottling since our Berry's 40-Year Blend more than 5 years ago. Filled into a Refill Sherry Hogshead on August 17, 1988, there were only 53 bottles left in the cask when it was bottled on the 21st of July, 2022 at 54.1%. A sister cask to this whisky, filled on the same day, is currently scoring 89.43pts on Whiskybase. I expect ours is even better!
This is another one of those KWM casks, where prior to sampling the whisky, Andrew said there was no way we were going to buy a full cask at that price. But the whisky is stunning, and when it was sampled by the KWM whisky team we knew we had to have it. It didn't hurt that the cask had only 53 bottles of liquid left in it at the time of bottling... those are some greedy angels! 90 Points from Whiskyfun.com

Lightly peated and matured in only first fill casks for 21 years before bottling at 43%. The whisky is the culmination of decades of work since Gordon & Macphail bought the distillery in 1993, and brought it back into opperation in 1998.
