This is the 4th batch of unnamed Tennessee rye whiskey by That Boutique-y Whisky Co., bottled as a part of their 10th Birthday range. The whiskey was finished in ex-Oloroso and PX Sherry casks. 50%. Is it Jack Daniel's or George Dickle? The label might have some clues.
Producer Description
"Our fourth batch from this unnamed Tennessee distillery is a 5 Year Old Straight Rye Whisky, marriage from liquids that had spent finishing periods in ex-Oloroso casks and ex-Pedro Ximenez casks. It’s a release of just 230 bottles at 50% abv (100% US Proof). Sadly we’re not able to name this distillery, but you’ll notice it’s definitely labelled as a Tennessee whisky which narrows it down an awful lot!"
About the Label
"Tennessee whiskey must be filtered through charcoal (this filtering step is known as the Lincoln County Process) prior to aging the whiskey. Our label features a whole load of sugar maple on fire, making charcoal, in some sort of hollow - another clue? There’s also a familiar face if you're up to date on your zombie apocalypse television dramas."

Nose: Rich and fruity: Juicy melon, papaya, over-ripe strawberries, black cherry, and plums. Hints of dark chocolate, polished wood and chalk dust.
Taste: Rich and well rounded on the palate. A slow build up of cooking spices and rich caramel, joined by cherry, dark chocolate, burnt toast and a hint of wood char.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

Whoa! Old No. 7, this ain't. This Single Barrel Rye caused a bit of a buzz when it launched, being JD's first new mash recipe since 1866! With a mashbill consisting of 70% rye and less than 20% corn, expect this lil Tennessee treat to bring a big spicy complexity to what we normally think of when we hear the words Jack Daniels. This rye is a far cry from the hot bite of young corn-led whiskey we see usually see behind the iconic black and white label. And make no mistake...this is no shooting whiskey; instead, this is a rather spectacular example of well-crafted American whiskey with a dangerous degree of drinkability. Should suit both rye-hounds and bourbon-fiends.
