Bottled to celebrate That Boutique-y Whisky Company's 10th Birthday this is their 2nd release of Nantou. This peated Taiwanese single malt was distilled in 2016, and has been bottled after 5 years at a natural cask strength of 52%.

"We’re delighted to bring you this second release, a 5 Year Old, and a cracking example of their peated malt style. From a single cask, distilled in 2016, just 231 bottles have been filled at natural cask strength."
About the Label
"Our label is how we imagined the first explorers finding this site in the idyllic Nantou region of Taiwan. Our intrepid explorer is armed with a bindle of barley and his guide to whisky as he makes his way to a pier on the Sun Moon lake. Native flora and fauna surround him; Plum blossom trees, banana plants, fruit trees, Blue Magpies, and watch out for that Taiwanese Leopard Cat."

Nose: Sweet vanilla, apricot and ripe apple, alongside chalky grist, salty seaspray, and some sooty peat smoke. You could be forgiven for thinking this was coastal Islay
Taste: Mouth-coating, oily malt leads the way for a hefty hit of spice. Smouldering embers and earthy ash are lifted by a touch of seaweed and lemon zest. A long ashy finish.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.
