This whisky was a surprise standout in our tasting with Dave Worthington... Bottled to celebrate That Boutique-y Whisky Company's 10th Birthday this is the 3rd Batch of Elburn bottled by TBWC.
Producer Description
"It’s back to the superb German distillery, formerly known as Glen Els (until the Scotch Whisky Mafiosa slapped their wrists) Elsburn. This 7 Year Old single malt has been matured in a Ex-Rivesaltes cask. Bottled at Natural Cask Strength (NCS) 48.7% abv (yes - a very high ‘Angels Share’) we’re expecting around 345 bottles out of this cask."
About the Label
"Anna and Martina feature living above the distillery, as they did in the old days. The town of Zorge, where the distillery lies, has an old legend of a wingless dragon called the Hazelworm residing in the nearby mountains. The distillery is subject to a rather ludicrous amount of German regulations. Their spirit safe is locked within another spirit safe. Every single possible opening is locked down with padlocks, hundreds of them in total!"
500ml mlProducer Tasting Note "Nose: Sweet honey and roasted nuts; almonds and pistachio. It reminds me of pink and white, nougat. Dried fruits follow; raisin, prunes, and dried apricot. Stunning! P: Rich, and another wonderfully balanced Elsburn. Walnut oil, almond butter, and spicy wood. Leather, cocoa and plenty of dried fruits. Long spicy finish. I love this!"
