Ardmore in Ratafia. Hmmmm. Anyone else imagining Braveheart meets Versailles? Trust our friend Gilles Dumangin to marry a rough-and-tumble Highlander with the elegance of French wine. This peated malt spent 9 years in a Refill Hogshead before being moved into an ex-Ratafia Champenois barrel for a 2 year polishing.

I really wanted to dislike this... the price is a touch high, it is from an ex-Wine hogshead, and Ardmore, especially young Ardmore is so hit and miss for me. But it is excellent! 2010 vintage, 13 years old, 50%, and bottled for the 25th Anniversary of the Old Malt Cask range.

This 2003 vintage 19 year old Ardmore was initial matured in a refill Hogshead cask before being finished in a fresh PX Sherry Hogshead. It is the 9th Ardmore bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Co. 50.2%
