Not legally whisky, owing to the fact it was made with buckwheat, even though it matured 14 years in French Limousin oak. This is the first ever batch of Eddu from That Boutique-y Whisky Co., bottled at 47.9%.

"The distillery blazed a new trail in the whisky world in 2002, by creating the first ever pure buckwheat whisky in the world. “Eddu” means “buckwheat” in the Breton Language. Our ‘Eddu’ has been matured for 14 years, in French Limousin Oak. Buckwheat, a staple of Japanese and European cooking since ancient times, lends the spirit a distinctly earthy body. It's a huge commitment, as buckwheat is four times the price of corn, takes three times as long to mill and is heavy to mash."
About the Label
"Another brand new label for this first ever batch of ‘Eddu’ from French Distillery Menhirs. This small family distillery has roots stretching back to 1921 when the Le Lay family bought a second-hand pot still for distilling cider and extracting brandy commonly known as Lambig."

Nose: Honey, charred lemon peel, and exotic spices. Lots of fresh ginger, with hints of fenugreek and some earthy cumin.
Palate: Delicate, with a surprisingly light mouthfeel. Honeyed sweetness, with plenty of spices, candied ginger leading, oranges and a generous pinch of salt.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

Producer Description
"Yet another new label for our first ever back from Denmark’s Fary Lochan distillery. It’s a small family distillery, now run by three siblings, and their mother. The distillery is named after the lake on the plot and an ancient spelling of the town, Farre, it’s located in. Founder Jens-Erik Jorgensen, who sadly died in 2016, found inspiration from memories of smoked cheese from his mother used to smoke over fresh nettles. Jens-Erik made his first tests of smoking his whisky-malt with nettles in 2009."

"When we learnt that the distillery was located in the village of Farre (which was previously known as Fary) we had that far far away fairy tail image in our head, and so our label is based up on an old style fairy tale woodland glade and a small glistening lake."

This 3 Year Old Single Malt Swissky was matured in HighGlen’s signature 100 litre casks. A one Man operation, situated on the peak of a Swiss Mountain, heavily inspired by Scotland, and run by the larger than life character, Lord Gunter Sommer. Located in the village of Santa Maria, on the border of Switzerland and Italy, at an altitude more than twice that of Ben Nevis, the distillery has been built into his home."
About the Label
"All of the distillery equipment, apart from the still, was designed and built by Gunter. The power source for the distillery is an array of solar panels on the roof. Gunter primarily uses specially coopered 100 litre casks made from Ex-Bourbon staves, and Ex-Sherry heads."

The second batch of Helsinki Distilling Rye bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company was made from a mash of 70% Rye and 30% malt, and matured 6 years in virgin American oak before bottling at 58.9%.

"Our second batch from Finland’s Helsinki distillery is a 6 Year Old rye whisky, from 70% malted rye, and 30% malted barley mashbill. It’s been matured for full term in a new, charred, (char level 3) American oak cask. Low year round temperatures in Helsinki year round leads to a slower interaction with wood. This presents a preferable situation for maturation in powerful, first fill casks."

"Our label shows the distillery in one of its former guises; a car wash. The Monopoly cars are a reference to the strict Finnish alcohol monopoly ‘Alko’."
