Nose: A Thick pudding of a nose; fruit and caramel have merged into one slightly over-oaked soup; burnt apple pie;
Taste: This is essentially a port pipe sandwich.... and it shows. Th spicy, jammy fruit is interwoven through any amount of caramel while the oaky saltiness gets the taste buds both salivating and puckering until you run dry;
Finish: Long, massive oak with quite evident traces of the virgin barrels now detectable. And more of a cocoa hue as it progresses. At last some muscovado sugars arrive to supplant the berry fruits;

Unlike the single cask, cask strength Solist series from Kavalan, The Lan Single Malt is bottled at 43%. Along with the lowered ABV comes a more affordable price. Canada was among the first countries to receive this new expression.

It is big, bold, boisterous, and packed full of pomp and circumstance thanks to the variety of casks used in its makeup. Batch 13 is bottled at 59.8% ABV and contains GlenAllachie single malt whisky matured for at least a decade in a combination of Sherry, Red Wine, and Virgin Oak casks.

Amrut's innovative Spectrum is back... Bottled at 50% the whisky is initially matured in ex-Bourbon before finishing in custom casks made with new American Oak, new French Oak, ex-Oloroso and ex-PX Sherry staves.

"To make the Spectrum 004, a two-part maturation technique has been employed, the first being maturation of new make spirit in ex-Bourbon casks followed by transferring the aged spirit into the custom barrels. The custom barrels are made with 4 different kinds of staves, new American Oak with Char level 3, new French Oak with light toasting, ex-Oloroso staves and ex-PX Sherry staves. The aforementioned barrel has equal proportions of all four kinds of staves are ranged in a one after-the-other manner lending their own characteristics and complexities to the malt coming into its own on the nose and the palate."
