This release by Truth Malters is part of their Cigar CLASS series which feature unique artwork, and which are ideal for pairing with cigars. Aged 6 years, 9.75 months in ex-Bourbon, the whisky was produced from a heavily peated mash (55ppm). Bottled at 60.9%, only 53 bottles were produced, with but 12 coming to KWM!

Nose: Beautiful rich peat notes – iodine, vanilla, fresh tangy apples, floral notes, wet wood, petrichor.
Palate: Sweeter than most would expect. Honey and soft florals timely intermingle with herbal notes bursting on the palate.
Finish: Gentle and long with welcomed floral and wood notes and a soft palate oiliness.

This Single Malt Whisky from Cotswolds Distillery was aged in ex-peated quarter casks (hmm, which distillery could those be from...). The peated casks lend nuance and, well, notes of peat to the unpeated Cotswolds Whisky.
Quarter casks, to be exact. These 125-litre casks typically offer big flavour and influence on the maturing whisky within a shorter amount of time when compared to a full-size 200 Litre Barrel or 250 Litre Hogshead. Big wood influence, yeah, but don't expect this to be a peat monster, by any means.
It's also pretty cool that this is all floor-malted local barley (Anchor and Fermentis varieties). Love the 'grain to glass' ethos!

"The Solera 02 from High Coast Distillery in Sweden. Traditionally Spanish in concept, Uniquely Nordic in its implementation and character.
A Solera is a maturation system based on fractional blending of younger spirits with older ones, developing character complexity. Each bottling holds a portion of whisky from the very first batch, like DNA. With every release, the whiskies gradually increase in age making each one unique. High Coast Distillery built a six-story Solera System in one of their warehouses. At the base are the Solera barrels, 225-litre Swedish oak barrels. Bottling happens at this level and the above 5 floors of ‘criaderas’ are bourbon barrels that hold 200 litres of whisky descending in age. The top criadera is the youngest where High Coast adds its proud distillate to mingle its way down - with barrels continuously topped up from the barrels above. Maturing through years of relentlessly cold winters, hot summers, and humid falls, this bold single malt whisky emerged."
