La Venenosa Sierra Volcanes is made in the southern region of Jalisco in the village of San Juan Espanatica, Tuxpan. Maestro Tabernero Don Arturo Campos makes this with cultivated agave called Cenizo Gigante (agave Angustifolia).
After harvesting, the maguey agave is roasted in an earthen pit with black oak. Fermentation takes place within a circular pit inlaid with stone and using naturally occurring yeast before the result is twice distilled using small clay pots.
